Frequently Asked Questions

Mentoring Frequently Asked Questions

(Family Mentoring page)

What do you expect a mentor to do?

Meet with the family for a couple hours, only seven times, once every three weeks to guide them on how to be self sufficient.

Where do we meet the family?

Usually at the family's place of residence once they move in or a neutral location such as a church, restaurant, or park.

How often do we meet?

Once every three weeks for up to five months.

I feel intimidated to reach out to a homeless family. How do I do this?

We provide a 90 minute training and resource you with tools to guide the family toward self sufficiency. Then after you initiate the first meeting which is a "get acquainted" meeting we will stay in touch every three weeks to see if there is anything we can do to assist you in your outreach.

Where are the homeless families staying before you help them into housing?

Our families prior to our assistance into housing are staying in motels, shelters, with other family members, and sometimes in a vehicle.
